Assistant Auditor-General, Local Government
Bruce heads the Office's Local Government group, which is responsible for managing the Office's relationships with the local government, environment, and energy sectors, and Parliament's Local Government and Environment Committee. This group is responsible for advising the Auditor-General on key matters in these sectors and any proposed audit response. The Local Government group also maintains direct relationships with each public entity in these sectors, and a broad range of sector stakeholders. The group is also the point of contact for individual ratepayers.
The Local Government group also carries out similar work for sectors associated with local government, such as council-controlled organisations, ports, airports, and licensing trusts.
Bruce is Deputy Secretary-General of the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI), which fosters and develops the interests of audit offices within the Pacific region.
Before joining the Office, Bruce was an Audit Director for Audit New Zealand. He is a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
