About us | Our structure

What do we do?

The Legal Group provides legal advice and representation for the Office of the Auditor-General and Audit New Zealand. The Legal Group's responsibilities include:

  • advising on legal issues that arise in the course of audits, inquiries and reports
  • managing inquiries
  • carrying out the Auditor-General's functions under the Local Authorities (Members' Interests) Act
  • dealing with all other enquiries about conflicts of interest.

Group structure

The Assistant Auditor-General of the Legal Group is Nicola White.

The other members of the Group are:

  • Jonathan Keate (Senior Solicitor; Sector Manager, Local Government)
  • Edrick Child (Senior Solicitor)
  • Sarah McMaster (Solicitor, Inquiries Manager)
  • Kathrine Rice (Personal Assistant).
