Our international work

Each year, we make a significant contribution to the international auditing community.

Through our international work we aim to strengthen public sector accountability and promote good governance by sharing our skills, information, and advice with other audit bodies throughout the world and particularly in the Pacific region. We take part in (and occasionally host) international auditing conferences, peer review organisations like ours, share our knowledge and expertise with others, and host international visitors.

For example:

  • we hosted audit colleagues from around the world for IntoSAINT training and assessment. IntoSAINT is a self-assessment tool for supreme audit institutions to analyse integrity risks and assess the maturity level of their integrity management systems.
  • we were a member of the international peer review team tasked with peer review of the United States Government Accountability Office;
  • we support accountability, transparency, and good governance in the Pacific through our role as Secretary-General of the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI) and support to the PASAI Secretariat;
  • we work with Auditors-General from other countries to encourage, promote, and advance capability and co-operation, for example we hosted a meeting with Thembekile Kimi Makwetu (Auditor-General of South Africa) and Tiofilusi Tiueti (Chief Executive of PASAI);
  • we contribute to the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institution’s (INTOSAI) committees and working groups, including the Forum for INTOSAI Professional Pronouncements, and the working group on environmental auditing; and
  • we hosted international delegations, which provided opportunities to exchange information and build networks internationally.
